New Delhi: Senior Odisha cadre IPS officer Amitendra Nath Sinha has been appointed Inspector General in the Border Security Force (BSF), moving from his current assignment in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Sinha, a 2002-batch IPS officer, has been serving as an Inspector General in the CRPF since July 2023. His new posting in the BSF has been made through an internal transfer and will form part of his ongoing tenure with the Central government.
According to an order issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Sinha will take charge of the new assignment from the date he assumes office and will continue until July 10, 2028, or until further orders.
Before moving to the Central government, Sinha held several senior positions in the Odisha Police, including Inspector General of the CID-Crime Branch. His career in the state police included assignments involving investigation and other areas of policing.
Sinha has more than two decades of experience in the Indian Police Service, having served in both Odisha Police and the Central Armed Police Forces. His move to the BSF will see him take up a senior leadership role in a force responsible for guarding India’s international borders.
His central deputation began on July 11, 2023, and the new BSF assignment will be counted as part of the same five-year central tenure.
