Airtel Launches New AI-Based Security Feature

New Delhi, February 13, 2026. Airtel has launched a new AI-powered fraud alert system to combat the problem of spam. This feature will help protect customers from OTP-related banking fraud in real-time.

Airtel’s new AI-powered system identifies suspicious situations and alerts customers in a timely manner. When an OTP sent by a bank is detected during a potentially risky incoming call, Airtel immediately warns the customer through a “Fraud Alert” that sharing OTPs for banking transactions while on a call can be risky.

This effective combination of AI intelligence and human intuition gives customers the time they need to think, evaluate, and ensure their safety, effectively closing the security gaps exploited by scammers.

Shashwat Sharma, Managing Director and CEO of Airtel India, said, “We are on a mission to make Airtel a secure network.” Meanwhile, we’ve realized that despite the crucial role of OTP in securing digital transactions, criminals are undermining its usefulness through various means. In light of this, we’re pleased to announce a significant technological advancement at Airtel’s network level, designed to further strengthen security against banking fraud.

Our new, AI-powered and automated solution works proactively at the network level and is designed to detect and prevent fraud in real-time. Extensive testing has demonstrated high levels of accuracy and effectiveness in preventing such scams.

Over the past two years, Airtel has implemented several AI-based security measures, such as spam call alerts and blocking dangerous links, to prevent fraud from occurring. These efforts have significantly reduced fraud on the network, but fraudsters continue to target people through fake identities and psychological pressure. This new feature is another major step towards protecting mobile users from such threats.

The solution is currently active in Haryana and Airtel will make it available to all its customers in a phased manner over the next two weeks.
